Bella Hinton is a firm believer in "truth and justice for all." As a security pro she was headhunted away from a job in the government keeping State Department employees safe. For the last seven years she has been working for a company in the private sector. Getting their roughshod mercenary tendencies under control and keeping them that way was her job, until someone thought differently.

Washington is more about mercenary armies than security and safety. When her supervisor informs her over the phone that she has been terminated she resolves to find out the real reason why. When her boss is killed on the firing range by another company employee and it is ruled a suicide, she knows the company's CEO is covering up a planned "hit." The CEO is determined to get rid of Bella permanently, but he doesn't count on the old gal being "a real bitch from hell." Bella hires a private investigator to investigate the shooting and brings in two trustworthy friends from the company to keep her daughter safe and give her a hand in leveling the playing field and bringing the CEO to his knees.

I found this to be a delightfully humorous and suspenseful read with realistic characters that have some age and wisdom to them. The setting is well done and the plot twists and weaves itself into a satisfying conclusion. Bella is a minor character in other books by this author, but she is the star attraction in this one and I feel she deserves her own series. For a fun thriller read, check this out.

  1. I always like to find new reads that take me out of my “cozy” comfort zone...this sounds like just the thriller for me.
