Marley is a ten-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever available at our Dog Adoption Center. He is a very special senior who has been in our care since early June of this year; the staff at Valley Animal Center wish Marley to find a loving and comfortable home. Here is Marley’s story:

On June 12, 2019, a Good Samaritan came into our Dog Adoption Center in a panic. She had found Marley wandering the streets alone with an open wound on his face. She assumed he had been hit by a car and had taken Marley to an emergency clinic near the site where he was found. He was placed on pain medication and antibiotics to fight infection, but it was clear that he was still suffering. She then turned to Valley Animal Center for assistance. Marley was evaluated by a veterinarian at our low-cost clinic, and it was determined that he had been attacked by another dog.
Marley healed

Though he was microchipped, we received no response when the owners were contacted. Marley was abandoned: homeless, alone, and in pain. Marley underwent several surgeries to close up his wound and remove foxtails that were trapped underneath his skin. Our veterinarian and animal care staff worked hard keeping him as comfortable as possible while his injury healed.

About three months later, Marley is completely healed, neutered, vaccinated, and ready to find his forever home. This lovable guy enjoys taking walks to the dog park and relaxing in the grass. Being ten-years-old, he doesn’t have much interest in playing or running around; he’d much rather lie beside you and enjoy your company. If Marley sounds like the match for you, stop by Valley Animal Center today! Marley is available for adoption for just $180 at the Dog Adoption Center, open seven days a week from 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Due to the severity of his injury and the number of surgeries Marley underwent, the medical expenses for his care were costly. If you would like to help support the cost of his medical bills, please donate by calling us at (559) 233-8690, or visit our website.

Valley Animal Center is located at 3934 N Hayston Ave, Fresno, CA.
