Meet Antonia Bingham! She is in her mid-thirties, single, and the owner of a successful inn in the wealthy enclave of East Hampton, New York. She is a warm and caring person but a little too nosy when she gets involved in investigating murders that happen in her small corner of the world. This time she is asked to investigate a twenty-seven year old cold case by the woman who was the main suspect. Pauline Framingham, the spoiled heiress to a pharmaceutical fortune was accused of killing her best friend, Susie Whitaker.

Pauline was seventeen and had the best lawyers that money could hire, so nothing was proved against her, and the case remained unsolved. Now Pauline wants closure above all else! She wants to be proved innocent and the real murderer found! Antonia doesn't think she can do anything about solving the case but agrees to Pauline's proposal. Dodgy witnesses, compromised crime scene, and Pauline's own manipulations make Antonia's investigation more difficult and time consuming. The only thing that Antonia knows for sure is that no stranger committed the brutal murder. It was one of the people who made up the tightly bound group of family, friends, and staff, but who?

I really enjoyed reading this tightly written and well thought out murder mystery. The characters are well formed and made me feel like I was right there with them. The setting is also done in a descriptive manner that brought it to life and immersed you into this exclusive and elite world. This is the third book in this Hamptons Murder Mystery series and the first that I have read. There was enough background to feel comfortable with both the characters and setting, making it easy to fall right into the engrossing story. The author made me want to go back and read the first two stories in the series, while I wait for the next one to come out. A taut, well thought thru plot with believable characters makes this a book that all mystery fans will enjoy!
