Logan Moretti is a jewelry designer selling her more traditional creations on Etsy, but she’s been known to take on more out-of-the-ordinary projects. She lives in a converted beach ball factory with her roommate, a black cat named Onyx, and pals around with her best friend, Quinn, a fashionista fashion designer who’s always ready with advice or criticism about Logan’s choice of clothing. But, when trouble hits, Logan and Quinn make a formidable, smartly dressed pair.

Earns 5/5 Kismet Meetings … Clever Fun!

The snow has finally given way to blooms of spring creating the perfect opportunity for friends Logan and Quinn to have a picnic in the park. Quinn’s multi-tasking skills are masterful, but she almost misses seeing the daughter of a co-worker running toward her. Shelby Potter has a bathroom emergency and hopes Quinn will watch her little Shih zu, Reba, for just a few moments. Quinn is reluctant due to her limited free time, but Logan knows it’s also about her feelings about animals, so Logan speaks up and agrees. She takes Reba off on her own bathroom emergency noticing how picky she is when it comes to just the right tree, however, Logan losses her attention for just a second giving the dog the opportunity to slip her grasp and run away. Logan finds the leash, but at the end, it’s missing the dog. While the three frantically look for the runaway pooch, Shelby receives a disturbing text … $50,000 or dog’s dead!

Short, But Sweet Fun! Jennifer Fischetto offered a fun and clever tale of dognapping, a unique ransom twist, and a surprise arrest. Logan is a creative woman, loyal to her friends, old and new, and very capable in perilous predicaments to come out unscathed… well, partially. The crime didn’t include any dead bodies, but it was still compelling and easy to follow. The suspects were an obvious bunch — a lazy nephew, a suave gentleman, a masked figure, but I was still pleasantly surprised at the final solution. It’s well-written, includes extraneous fun with friends, and I enjoyed the jewelry designer premise and a fashionista best friend, but it’s sadly a one off: no black cat antics, no additional stories, no series. I would love to read more!

  1. I guess I'm more of a dog person, even though I've had both cats and dogs.

  2. I am absolutely a dog person though my first pet was a cat. My favorite gemstone is opal and my favorite piece of jewelry is an antique coral necklace and earrings that were my mother's and her three strand pearls that daddy gave her. I would love to win this novella. madspangler@comcast.net
