Two very lucky girls were adopted from our rescue. They will be both living together with a doctor in Laguna Beach, California, and they will get to look out at the beach in their forever home together. What lucky girls these two kitties are!

Our rescue was contacted by Tay, a doctor in the Laguna Beach area. Her reason for contacting our rescue was the result of a very shocking revelation to everyone at our rescue. She had been trying to adopt a cat in the Laguna Beach area for some time now. Always running into dead ends. We were informed that there is a policy there that if you are sixty years or older you can’t adopt an animal. Wow! Our rescue feels very different about that policy (having a Senior-To-Senior program), and we would rather adopt to an older person without question. Keep in mind, Tay is a doctor, and most of her family is in the medical field of some type, and how lucky would a kitty be in getting adopted into that lifestyle. Tay isn’t a first-time adopter of a cat, as her last cat lived to be twenty years old. We were very honored that Tay wanted to adopt a kitty, and in this case two kitties!

Now the big question is how we were going to make this work. The distance between us would be over a 5-1/2 hour drive one way. As it happened, Tay’s son lives in San Francisco and was going to be traveling to visit his mom who wanted to adopt from our rescue. So, we arranged for her son Todd to make a visit here to adopt Butterfly Kisses (lucky girl!).

But wait there’s more:

Tay asked about another cat that was at our rescue, Juliette, and that she would like to adopt both girls that have lived together at our rescue and were very close. Two very special kitties saved from two different shelters in California! Butterfly Kisses was rescued from CCSPCA high-kill shelter in Fresno, and Juliette rescued from Lancaster Shelter in Los Angeles. Now, both will continue bonding, for life, in their new forever home.

Todd arrived at our rescue to pick up both girls. They weren’t happy being in a carrier. After they left our rescue, we got a text message from Todd that the girls weren’t happy in the carriers, so they let them out, and both were laying on the back seat of the car sleeping. After we got the text message from Todd, we got a phone call from Tay. Telling us that both girls were out of the carrier, and she said to her son that she was not sure this is going to go well. But the girls were fine. They stopped and got them both a can of wet food, and they had their lunch on the way to their new home...over a 5-1/2 hour drive.

When the girls arrived in Laguna Beach at their new home, they had family waiting to meet them: Tays's grandchild and family were so excited for them to get there.

Shortly after they arrived, we got a text message that they all just loved Butterfly Kisses and Juliette. It’s because of adoptions like this that I do rescue. It’s the happy new beginnings that could easily have ended in death at a shelter. Now they will bring so much love to a very special family.
