Big Al has turned over his detective business and house to Al and entered a nursing home. As Al settles in to work with his dad's hot female partner, Max, he discovers a body at the dock of the Blue Palmetto Detective Agency on Ava Island in Savannah, Georgia. Determined to solve the mystery of the dead body and tie up loose ends on some of his Dad's cases, Al puts off selling out and heading west. As an added bonus to everything else, Al's condo goes bankrupt, and he loses everything. He also has PTSD over being on bridges after his near fatal crash with the crazy drug dealer in New Haven.

Things become hectic and complicated when Big Al comes up missing at the nursing facility. As Al works to find his missing dad and discover who murdered the dead body on the dock, we have everything from explosions to alligators. Old secrets rear their head from the Savannah Low Country to the Okefenokee Swamp and most of them want to murder Al.

This was a compelling read that kept me riveted to my chair as I read the book from start to finish. The characters come to life with well written lines and the background and setting are well portrayed and add to making the characters even more life like. There is lots of action and drama but also chunks of humor that will give you a laugh. I am looking forward to more books with these great characters and setting. I highly recommend this read to any mystery fan.
