Details on how to win either a print or ebook copy of the book, and a link to purchase it.

Newly married Laurel McKay desk’s nameplate may have her officially designated as “Investigator,” but she’s finding that working for her husband’s Gold Country Investigations Agency is proving less exciting than expected. So while Laurel taking on a case for her eighty-nine-year-old grandmother would not be a first choice, it’s preferable to ordering office supplies and selecting the new coffeemaker. Gran’s friend Iris is drowning in debt due to a timeshare scheme, and they believe that former accountant Laurel is more than capable of unraveling the tangle of paperwork and legal gobblygook of exorbitant interest rates on unusable vacation properties.

Armed with her Gran’s wigs for undercover disguises, Laurel begins investigating the questionably ethical but extremely profitable timeshare schemes of Lake Tahoe. The lure of Nevada’s casinos brings along an enthusiastic Gran, whose equally energetic confrontation with a Timeshare Help employee lands her in police custody when the man is murdered. Laurel’s husband demands that she stay out of the case, but that’s impossible when it becomes interwoven with her second client. Adriana Menzinger fears that her new fiancé is cheating on her, but rather than confront him demands that Laurel discover the truth. Laurel is not overjoyed to once again be working for the woman who stole away the promotion she rightfully deserved, but it’s a chance to showcase her skills and prove her worth. And it’s not as if Laurel will be on her own, as her own daughter has just been enlisted as a new assistant and Laurel’s former coworkers are eager to sign on as interns if it means getting some dirt on their detested boss.

This seventh in the series continues to develop the delightful characters who so charmed readers in Dying for a Date. Laurel’s life is far different than when she was first introduced: her exasperating ex-husband lives next door as her Gran’s roommate, a massive Bernese Mountain dog has won her heart, and she has begun an entirely new career with an equally new spouse. What has remained consistent are complicated plots that are as intriguing as they are unpredictable, dialogue that will have readers burst out with giggles, and realistically quirky and lovable characters. I can’t wait to see Laurel continue down the path of a professional investigator, even though it will test her vows to her husband to avoid dead bodies, murderers, and the family members who attract them.
