Trouble has hitched a ride with Joss, another stowaway, in the horse trailer of barrel-riding rodeo champion, Malone Summers. When Malone discovers the pair, she tries unsuccessfully to find out what Joss's story is and who she is running from. Trouble senses that the pair are connected and that everything surrounds Malone's ex-boyfriend, Tyge, another rodeo rider.

With the help of Cade Delaney, new Director of Operations for Twin Circuit Rodeos, Malone and Trouble start trying to solve the mystery that surrounds Joss. Malone and Cade grew up as neighbors in LaGrange, Georgia. They have a history and now the romantic sparks are flying between the two of them, again. When Trouble discovers the dead body of another rodeo rider, he knows it was murder. Shortly afterwards, he observes the murder of a second rodeo rider and has to convince Cade that he knows what he saw. Trouble is hampered by his inability to speak, but he knows how to get his human companions to understand him. As death circles closer and closer to Joss and Malone can Trouble and Cade save them from being the next victims.

This is a tightly written and well-plotted cozy mystery. The rodeo background is really fun to read, and Trouble's interactions with his humans are completely believable. The fact that the storyline goes from the human's viewpoint to Trouble's make this series delightful and a must read. The characters are well defined and the mystery will keep you guessing right up to the final reveal. This is the seventh book in the series and each one builds on the ones before, even though each book is written by a different author. I have read and enjoyed each book in the series and highly recommended that anyone who enjoys cats and cozies give them a try. I am very much looking forward to Trouble's next adventure.
