Everly Swan moved back to her hometown by the sea and has opened an iced tea shop. For some reason, one of her customers has decided all-natural ingredients and proprietary recipes mean she’s hiding something. He drops by to complain loudly on a daily basis. In return, she doesn’t charge him for his tea, hoping for a change of heart. The customer was a former town councilman so he had some clout, or maybe people gave in, just to shut him up. Someone did—for good.

When his body is found on the boardwalk, a Mason jar of her tea near him, she’s an automatic suspect. It doesn’t help her business when an off-hand remark by the police says poison is suspected and the Mason jar is evidence. People stay away from her shop in droves. In order to stay in business, she starts to ask questions to clear her name.

It doesn’t help matters that the loose-lipped cop is ever-so-handsome. No time to think about that, though, since her last relationship was with a rider on the rodeo circuit. That didn’t end well.

This is the first in a new series. Everly is someone you’d like to meet. Although she’s still finding her way, she has a plan and is willing to change it as needed. There’s a definite spark between her and the hunky detective which will be interesting to see play out. A nice amount of information about tea and herbs is scattered throughout the book, but the reader learns about it as customers do, letting the facts blend with the storyline. Moving home and opening a business is a trend for characters lately but kudos for the iced tea shop idea, unique and a nice twist.

Find recipes for strawberry and peach iced tea, iced chai latte, and Carolina cucumber sandwiches at the back of the book. Book two, No Good Tea Goes Unpunished, will release on February 26, 2019 and is available for pre-order now, a good way to let publishers know the series should continue.
