Darrell Henshaw has accepted a coaching and teaching position at the high school in Wilshire, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay. When he starts having visions and dreams of a young inter-racial couple, he discovers that the young black man supposedly committed suicide thirty years earlier by hanging himself off the widow's peak that is outside Darrell's third floor office. As the ghost manifests himself more and more, Darrell learns the truth behind the supposed suicide. The ghost manages to get Darrell to understand that he wants justice for his murder and the culprits caught and that it has to be quick because the old high school will be demolished when the new one opens the following year. As he teaches his history classes and coaches his football team, Darrell and his new girlfriend investigate the murder and tracks down the girl involved, only to have her killed just before they are to meet with her. Can Darrell find the killers before it is too late, or will he fail his ghostly friend?

I really enjoyed this mystery with its paranormal twist. Darrell and the rest of the characters come alive on the page, and the Chesapeake Bay setting made for some great scenes in the book. The paranormal aspect did not overwhelm but only enhanced the story line. The murder plot was well thought out kept me turning the pages right up to the totally surprising conclusion. This is a Must Read for any mystery or paranormal fan.
