Another Hathaway Hits the Scene!
Harlow Hathaway is the second youngest of five Hathaway sisters; Hayden is the oldest residing in Minneapolis, then there is Harper who recently returned home, middle sister Haley, and the youngest Haven all living in at the family farm near Moosehead. They are a close-knit family sharing time including Sunday dinners with their grandmother Dixie and mother Daisy. Harlow owns The Book Nook, a lovely bookshop she renovated with a comfy upstairs apartment. She loves books, her sisters, and her relationship with childhood friend Cooper Calloway, a private investigator, seems to be evolving beyond just friends. Needless to say, connections are close with family, friends, and a few "fur" friends.

Harlow earns 5/5 First Edition Treasures...Clever, Engaging!
Harlow Hathaway along with her friend Coop checked out an estate sale of items belonging to multi-wealthy Theo Emerson. She was thrilled to pick up a box of books, of course, but to her amazement she discovered a first edition of The Great Gatsby and signed copies of every book penned by her favorite author Alistair Winslow, who is quite the public enigma, a recluse that not even his editor knows what he looks like. She jokes that "if he turned out to be a seventy-five-year-old grandmother, it might effect book sales." Her curiosity is heightened by handwritten inscriptions in the books and pages from possibly an unfinished manuscript. She enlists her friend Coop, whose interest is also piqued, to uncover information about this author. Starting with the connection to the late Theo Emerson, seeking Alistair's identity leads to more mysteries, suspicions, and a possible crime.

Hooked! My delight with this series continues with Harlow. Using a third-person narrative, though not my favorite perspective style, Kathy Daley has penned an intriguing mystery along with vivid descriptions, realistic dialogue, and wonderful characters. The journey to uncover the author's identity and connection to the late Emerson is clever and quite the page-turner with surprises and a great revelation. Beyond the mystery, Kathi Daley's signature writing style always delves into the characters and their everyday life: family gatherings, meals, traveling, even some sibling conflicts. It is fascinating how she creates an admirable Hathaway family and their influence on others. The Hathaway universe is fun to inhabit, but the books build on each other. One sister may take the lead, but information about Harper, the focus in book one, is revealed...not as a true spoiler, though. Intriguing. Entertaining. Fun.
