"Death by Armoire" By Albert A. Bell, Jr.: Review/Giveaway

by Sandra Murhpy

Details on how to win a copy of this book at the end of the review and a link to purchase it.

Maureen Cooper is a ghost writer. Living in the house that’s been home to her family for generations, keeping a work schedule, and enjoying a quiet life is enough for her. Interviewing celebrities adds all the excitement she wants, at a nice distance.

When Maureen’s ex-husband Troy is found dead in his antique/junk store, it first looks like an accident. Instead of waiting for help, Troy must have tried to move an armoire on his own. His body was found underneath the massive piece of furniture.

The store is broken into and searched, although the reason is farfetched. There’s nothing of that much value in the store—except for the piece that toppled Troy to death. Maureen recognizes it from her childhood. When she traces it back to the seller, she finds the armoire wasn’t the only piece Troy bought. It seems the furniture holds a secret and more than one person wants to find it.

Maureen could have an in since she’s seeing the lieutenant assigned to the case. On the other hand, that could be a problem instead.

Maureen is a woman you’d like to know, a neighbor who’d sign for your package or be up for an evening tea and snack. She doesn’t brag about her celebrity clients and enjoys her work. Although she likes a quiet life, it seems life has other ideas for her, especially after a teen singer arrives in town to convince Maureen to write her life (so far) story.

This is the second book in the series. Readers will want to find out more—about the celebrities, her romance with the lieutenant and of course, about murder.
