A Short Holiday Adventure...Full of Excitement!
Lynn Cahoon pens the delightful soon-to-be ten-book Tourist Trap series following Jill Gardner. Once a big-city lawyer, now living in South Cove, California, she owns a successful business, Coffee, Books and More. And when the holidays arrive, Lynn changes things up and sets her characters on a short and sweet adventure of mayhem and murder! Each story includes an engaging crime, wonderful additional characters, satisfying, if not surprising ending, family and friends interacting like a normal, and although short...it is not short on enjoyment! Here with book six in the set of novellas, the gang gathers for Thanksgiving! And, of course, trouble joins in!

A Very Mummy Holiday earns 5/5 Delightful Dunes...Engaging & Entertaining!
Thanksgiving is a special holiday, and Jill and her detective/boyfriend Greg King have traveled north to Oregon ready to spend a delightful time enjoying food, family, and new friends Blake Jennings and Kathi Corbin. The rental property, arranged by their new friends, accommodates several, has a picturesque view, and being close to the beach it is prime for hiking, water playing, and dune sports. The owners of the property live nearby along with their son Caleb, who in their words, “...can be a little moody, so if you see him around, don’t be scared.” Scared? Odd description for someone grieving over a missing fiancée, but his very scruffy appearance adds truth to their comment. Unfortunately, this suppose-to-be-pleasant holiday celebration turns murderous. When Jill and Greg are enjoying some riding on the dunes, Kathi and Blake take a terrible tumble. Fixing herself upright, Kathi uncovers a beautiful solitaire diamond ring hidden in the sand. However, it’s what’s attached to the ring that has them scrambling to dial 9-1-1. Mummified remains turn a disappearance into murder.

Top Marks! Clever holiday novella from Lynn Cahoon is easily enjoyed in an afternoon; great excuse to forgo kitchen duty and enjoy an ample supply of pumpkin-spiced coffee. The mystery is quite engaging with a cold case invading the holiday festivities. The victim is one cozy fans will immediately suspect, but the discovery of the remains is creative and mummification fascinating. However, preconceived ideas by law enforcement may need to be “re-conceived” now that the identify is corroborated. All very clever, but one of the “whys” seems missing. With a first-person narrative the story is fueled by Jill’s inner thoughts, feelings, and fun humor. The collaborative relationship with Greg is endearing, and although he is protective, he gives Jill’s own detective skill the respect it deserves. There’s Emma the Golden Retriever for “fur friend” lovers, realistic friend and family interactions, and...a recipe! Yes, ending this delightful tale is an easy-to-follow recipe for Pumpkin Marble Cheesecake (look out for the mention in the story) as the perfect end to anyone’s Thanksgiving festivities.
