"A View to a Kilt" By Kaitlyn Dunnett: Review/Giveaway

Details on how to win a copy of this book at the end of the review and links to purchase it.

Liss MacCrimmon owns the Scottish Emporium in Moosetookalook, Maine. Mostly she does mail order sales of Scottish items, tartans, kilts, scarves, and more, but during leaf peeping season and the famous Moosetookalook’s March Madness Mud Season Sale, business is booming at the brick and mortar. Usually, Liss’s Aunt Margaret is around to help, but she’s off to explore more branches on the family tree. However, Liss’s mom is on hand with many suggestions and even more critiques.

With Margaret gone, Liss and hubby Dan are in charge of keeping Margaret’s two Scotties. When they’re barking and refuse to come inside, Dan thinks they’ve treed a squirrel. Instead, he’s shocked to find a dead guy in their backyard. Liss is asked to take a look to see if it’s someone she knows. Although he looks familiar, he is a stranger.

As if that wasn’t enough of a shock, the man is identified by his fingerprints. He’s Charlie MacCrimmon, Liss’s uncle who was MIA during the Vietnam war and declared dead many years ago. Now, her father is a suspect since the state police don’t believe he didn’t know his brother was still alive.

Finding cryptic clues only makes things more confusing and then downright dangerous. This tale is full of twists you won’t see coming and clues that puzzle more than solve the mystery. In the end, it all comes together in a sensible solution. Be prepared to hold your breath through several scenes. As always, life in a small town is comforting and annoying. Readers would love to hang out at the Emporium—at least until Liss’s mother shows up. Then it would be best to duck!
