Different Game, Same Mysteries!
Tess Thomas has been a mail carrier for residents of White Eagle, Montana, for ten years, but recently she decided to go full-time working at the animal shelter to rescue and train dogs for search and rescue groups. Her boss and friend Brady Baker‘s plans to greatly expand the facility and build a high-tech training program are coming to fruition, and Tess finds the opportunity one she couldn’t pass up. Change can be exciting, but Tess misses the camaraderie, gossip, and daily interaction with friends and family, and Tilly, her trusty Golden Retriever sidekick, is struggling to understand he no longer buddies with Tess on her mail deliveries and misses the friendly interaction and treats. Tilly isn’t completely left behind; she assists at the shelter modeling basic behaviors for the dogs in training, but she’s too old to be used as Tess’s rescue partner. Tess looks forward to getting her own, younger, trained rescue dog and joining a local team. Tess’s personal life with two- and four-legged friends and family is her bright spot. There’s her mother and aunt, BFF/sister-in-law Bree and brother Mike, her law enforcement connection, but most importantly her not-yet-public fiancé and tech wiz Tony Marconi. Ok, there is the niggling mystery concerning her father, and bodies that pop up, so really little has changed!

The Wedding Plan earns 5/5 Tattoos...Engaging Fun!
Ten-year-old Timmy Wilson is missing, and the cold nights in the mountains make a successful rescue problematic. Tess volunteers as one who knows the area well, but Tilly is left behind since she’s not a trained “scent” dog. Luck has been elusive, and Lizzy and her rescue dog Poppy join Tess in her designated area. Poppy barks and heads off seemingly having picked up a scent. They follow. However, it isn’t the boy they find; it is an adult who appears to have been purposely dismembered, and like a puzzle, some parts are missing. But Tess recognizes the tattoo on the arm. She saw one years ago on a man who her father knew, a man who died long ago. Timmy? He was found cold and hungry, so the search was a success in that way, but this body looks like murder, and once again may be linked to Tess and Mike’s father...will they ever get complete answers?

Page-Turner! Kathi Daley has transformed the theme of her Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery from mail carrier to animal activist and search and rescue trainee. A side issue, which offers book clubs interesting debate, deals with the impact on our “fur friends” when humans make life changing decisions. Through the ten-book series, the mystery surrounding Tess’s dad has slowing evolved, but since this book has it as a key compelling part of this drama, suspicions, facts, and details are revisited. Kathi Daley’s entertaining writing style is descriptive and always includes everyday life to better understand and relate to her characters. The dialogue is informative with conversations to update details about the murder investigation, victims, and various theories, but also to explore ins and outs of the animal shelter, rescuing injured and abandoned cats and dogs, training dogs, introducing a new puppy into the family dynamic, and...Shhhh! personal secrets.
