Mysteries by the Bay

In search of the truth about her family, Karma guided Ainsley Holloway to the little hamlet of Gooseberry Bay, Washington. After her father’s untimely death, she found a curious photograph of a woman and two young children, realized the story she was told about how she came to be his adopted daughter had holes, and long-buried memories bubbled up people, places, and her really name. She never wanted for anything in her life, even partnering with her retired-cop dad in a private investigation firm where she learned and honed the necessary skills that would be extremely valuable during her journey and key in her ultimate decision to open her own PI business. A possible connection to the local Winchester family has slowly revealed some interesting information leading her to meet Adam Winchester. But nothing has been without difficulties. Seven months after first arriving in Gooseberry Bay, she has been a key figure in finding solutions to a few cold cases, mysteries, and murders, but she’s also made some exciting discoveries, received veiled threats, fussed the accident that took her parents may not have been, learned of a family and an inheritance, and now a registered letter and two big boxes have been delivered to her cottage.

Charmed Summer
earns 4+/5 Puzzles...Entertaining Fun!

Ainsley brings her good friend Jemma up to speed with all the latest details and discoveries in her search for answers about her family, but on the way to meet some friends at the marina, they see Deputy Todd interviewing a group of teens; at their feet is a blue paddleboard. Fifteen-year-old Zane Maddox has been reported missing by his mother, but then they learn Zane might not be the only teen missing. Another boy hasn’t been seen for two days, and a third never made it home after school, but with no client to warrant opening up The Case of the Missing Teens inquiry, Ainsley ponders her newest client...Ellery Adams. Miss Adams who, like herself, is searching for answer about her biological parents. For Ainsley, her journey started with an old photograph, and for Ellery, it’s a charm bracelet with two engravings that have led her to Gooseberry Bay. Who in town might be able to provide information about charms that seem connect to nineteen, ninety six? Has too much time passed for answers on both the missing teens and the women’s birth mother? Ainsley’s skill and curiosity might be the key to answering both puzzles.

Charming! Kathi Daley has continued the now five-book journey to the Cottage on Gooseberry Bay with two fascinating puzzles. She slowly reveals details on the page with footwork and clever questioning, but a lot of details are discovered off the page without direct involvement, missing some depth that creates an “Oh, wow!” However, all the puzzles culminate with reasonable and creative outcomes. The journey to uncover Ainsley’s past is still a fascinating story with pieces revealed, answers given, and some questions set for the next books. Ainsley and her four-footed companions have settled in well with a “peninsula” of friends and her budding PI business is showing success. As she learns more about her parents through photos she’s received, she struggles to feel a close connection, but it seems to strengthen her feelings for the man who raised her. Entertaining narrative. Endearing characters. Clever puzzles.

Alert! Book Six, A Summer Thing, is on Preorder HERE and set to release on June 22. “Ainsley's PI business is really taking off.” While juggling a bigger caseload, she continues to seek answers about her past and the whereabouts of her sister.
