More details at the end of this post & a link to purchase it.

Jamie Winters has an up and down employment record with the South New Jersey firm of Parker, Dennis, and Heath, personal injury lawyers whose ads illustrate a reputation best described as cheesy. This may not be a top-notch group in the firmament of the legal community, but it gives Jamie an avenue into her real passion … snooping. Her late-teens assistant Maizy, niece of her landlord and boyfriend Curt Emerson and better known as “Tee,” was excited about investigating various crimes, especially murder, so she set up a business, and now, Pipps Investigations is taking all clients … of course, if they can stay out of trouble.

Murder of a Misfit
Earns 5/5 Vacation Woes … Entertaining Quick Read!

Jamie’s boss and managing director of the firm, Howard Dennis, offered her a four-day pass at his palatial home on the Jersey Shore for a well-earned vacation, but, of course, it came with strings: be out before the weekend and flood the area with the firm’s business cards. Her young associate Maizy was nearby visiting friends, so it was going to be just her and “are we or aren’t we official” boyfriend Curt Emerson. A bit of sand, a bit of sea air, lots of sunscreen, and maybe some romance. Well, there’s no harm in one dreaming … A romantic walk on the beach turns into a very strange murder investigation. They discover the body of Annie Hollander, a class “misfit” from Jamie’s high school days, partially buried in the sand, but then, it, the body, disappears, and a stranger, “Call me Ernie,” swears the body was stolen by Sasquatch. Only at the Jersey Shore!

A Short Clever Gem!

I love novellas; they start and end in a short amount of time, and you’re off the rest of the day. For Kelly Rey, though, she’s taken the word short and made it huge! This novella in her Jamie Winters Mystery, Murder of a Misfit, is an exciting read with some quirky characters, intriguing clues, some eager, additional help, and the complicated realization the victim felt threatened. But, without a body, the search for answers is slow, and the police are little help. The intrigue continued with Kelly’s entertaining writing style including some snarky banter, generational quirks, and a satisfying, if not shocking, arrest. Whew, fun! Kelly’s female lead, Jaime, is a delightful character with some real-world body-image issues making her easy to identify with, but she’s also clever and determined, and with Curt, they make a formidable team!
