In the long-awaited, must-read book A Year of Miracles by author Kaitlyn King, Tridan and his friends return once again to a kingdom filled with chaos in every direction. After the fiasco in which the Crown Prince of Endor was murdered, there is only one viable heir to the throne left: a drunkard who does not under any circumstances want to ascend the throne and work to become a strong and loving King. Things quickly get interesting when a kingdom from far away with questionable motives sends an envoy offering their princess’s hand in marriage. The King accepts, and Tridan and his friends, amidst all the chaos, are sent as a delegation. Along the way, they learn a multitude of simple but impactful lessons from their mentor, Sir Leon. However, lessons at the castle continue for the new children from royal families training to become conquerors. This time, lessons are led by Sir Leon’s new wife, Istholde. New to teaching, she quickly encounters stubborn resistance and new challenges from the children which dampen her enthusiasm for serving her kingdom and teaching these young up-and-coming conquerors.
When Tridan and his friends return to the kingdom, they are met with mysterious rumors about the priests of the church performing healing miracles. And when the princess arrives from her kingdom to discuss the terms of betrothal, Altholos and the rest of the kingdom find out that she is not who she seems to be. There are secrets being kept by the soon-to-be allies, and above all, there seems to be an Endorian traitor in their midst.
I have been excitedly awaiting this book in the series, More than Conquerors. I have eagerly followed the adventures of Tridan and his friends, and Kaitlyn King does not disappoint with A Year of Miracles. There are so many high points in the book, and so many plot twists and turns that make it seem impossible for Tridan and friends to succeed. My favorite parts are the beautiful moments the author inserts between some of the darkest scenes. It’s a reminder that even when things are really dark, and it seems there is nowhere to go, you can always turn to God, and there is always beauty to be found even in the worst of situations.
Kaitlyn King has given fans a book they will definitely enjoy! Even readers new to the series will be captivated with Ms. King’s elegant writing style, and her easily loveable characters!
