WOW, this book is a wild ride into a thriller/mystery located on the South Carolina coast. It starts off with the suspicious accident of a family friend living in the exclusive Stillwater Cove neighborhood; adds some unexplained thefts that took place in a different community; then tops it all off with some unusual animal-related clues.

The main character, Kylee Kane, is a retired Coast Guard investigator who works as a security consultant for Welch HOA management, owned by her fiancé, Ted Welch. They intend to be married on Christmas Eve in the company of close family and friends.
Kylee is a smart, sassy, and slightly sarcastic character who has disdain for cell phones. Half the time she has hers silenced or turned off. While it might seem that she is a superhero, rest assured that this wonder woman has an Achilles heel––she is not a fan of small places.
The action-packed fourth installment in the HOA series does a great job as a stand-alone with plenty of backstory to keep readers new to the series from feeling lost. The characters keep you turning pages. They include Kylee’s mom, Myrtle, who is just as sharp as Kylee; Josie Muschel, a sheriff's deputy; Alysha Carter, a Coast Guard lieutenant; and Kylee’s supportive future husband, Ted. There isn’t a single boring or one-dimensional character in the whole book, including the bad guys/gals.
While this was my first time reading an HOA Mystery, it will not be the last.
