#Throwback for Murder is book four in the Trending Topic Mystery series by Sarah E. Burr. Readers can certainly jump into this series with this latest entry, but don’t miss out on the first three as there’s a bit of backstory that adds to the reading experience.

Influencer and social media consultant Coco Cline is attending the police department’s festival when she receives a frantic text from her best friend and coffee shop owner, Charlotte. Out of the blue, Charlotte’s abusive ex-boyfriend has found his way to Central Shores, Delaware and is standing inside Charlotte’s booth. Coco and Charlotte serve him his latte and send him on his way. Unfortunately, the ex collapses and dies not long after leaving Charlotte’s tent. And you can guess who the prime suspect is…Charlotte. Coco calls together the Sleuth Squad to uncover the true killer before Charlotte ends up behind bars

There is so much to enjoy about this series and especially with this latest entry! Sarah does not waste any time starting the mystery, and I found myself engaged immediately. With the busyness of life, I am so happy when I can get lost in a book right away.

I did not solve this mystery ahead of time, but I loved following the Sleuth Squad through their journey. Each friend/sleuth brings unique talents to the table, and the group uses social media to solve crimes – it’s such a creative hook for a series!

The mystery is of course strong in this story, but I think it’s the friendships that are my favorite part. As I said in a previous review, I wish I had a Sleuth Squad of my own. The friendships give a found family vibe, which is one of my favorite themes.

Central Shores, Delaware is a delightful setting, and Sarah uses just the right amount of cozy details to bring the place to life. This is another strong entry into a creative and fun mystery series.
