The story takes place centuries in the future, when animals have been given the ability to talk, and humans have gone extinct.
Cerberus is a young tiger whose favorite pastime is spending time with his dad in their lab. His dad is the leading scientist in a project to bring back animals from the past, such as the giraffe and duckling. However, when something goes drastically wrong and his dad disappears, Cerberus turns away from his painful past and leaves science behind forever––he thinks.
But when he returns home from culinary academy ten years later, he finds his best friend has continued the experiments. His friend tells him his dad may not be gone forever, and there may be a chance to save him. Cerberus jumps at the opportunity, going through a portal that takes him through time and hurls him into a strange land.
This remarkable young tiger embarks on a journey to find his dad––and when he does, it’s under the threatening eye of a timeless, power-hungry mutation who will not be thwarted. The clever and loyal friends Cerberus has made along the way help him fight the mutation king and his monstrous pet dragon.
This book is captivating science fiction for all ages––Ezra Edmond was exceptionally creative and detailed in creating the future of science in Cerberus’ world. My favorite parts of the book were the novelties he added into the story, such as the idea of calling Cerberus, “kidden” in a reference to the current name for young tigers, kitten, and the village Cerberus visits which is built on the concept of equal support for everyone.
If you’re interested in sci-fi, talking animals, the future, and an enthralling tale told with charming prose and wit, this is the book for you! I really enjoyed reading it. You will not want to miss Cerberus the Tiger by Ezra Edmond.

Cerberus is a strange name for a tiger.
