The two friends race off to report the note, and yet when they return to the funeral home they discover that the woman's body is missing. And not long after, another body disappears from the funeral home. Are these terrible Halloween pranks or is something more sinister at play here?
This is such a clever mystery with lots of twists and multiple red herrings. I was immediately pulled into the story by the descriptions of the small town and characters, and then I certainly did not have to wait long for the action to start. I did not guess the ending ahead of time and while I was glad for the resolution, I was sorry to close the book because I enjoyed it so much.
Rosalie does such a wonderful job of blending and balancing the mystery with the humor that often accompanies a small town with such a creative cast of characters. Edna, Becky, and Deputy Freddie make such a great team along with Tessa and Nick. I felt like I was hanging out with friends as I read and found myself wishing I could just tumble through the pages to visit with them in person. There’s such a sense of found family within the community that enveloped me as I read.
This was just the seasonal escape I needed during the busy Fall days, and was the perfect read to start off my October of seasonal reading!
