Zoe is Back for the Holidays!
Kathi Daley began this series in 2013, and thirty-one books later, Zoe has garnered an average of 4.5 stars and a huge, eager and devoted fan following, like me! Having read a large number of the books in this series and connecting with the author, I've discovered Kathi Daley and her character Zoe Donovan Zimmerman may have been cut from the same batch of cookie dough. Sweet, caring, and friendly, they both reside in a mountain lake community, enjoy outdoor activities and sharing that with family and friends, are both family-oriented and lovers of furry creatures, and they both love the Christmas season. No wonder Zoe comes across as realistic, easily relatable, and a fan favorite.

Holiday Hostage earns 5/5 Christmas Presents…Engaging Fun!

Everyone knows “Don't lie to the FBI,” but no matter how suspicious, when an agent feels the need to interrogate you, rummage through your purse, and not respond to your inquiries…well, comply now, contact your local sheriff/family friend later. Zoe and her husband Zak attended a cocktail party at the invitation of Zak’s friend. Although not fans of the politics of the guest of honor, they thought a quick “in and out” would at least be polite. Well, the “in” was fine, but the “out” included the dead body of the host...poisoned and security cameras show a suspicious figure retrieving a vial from Zoe’s purse. No clear picture of the perpetrator, and Zoe’s busy day provided ample opportunity for someone to hide the vial in her only bag to covertly and easily use later. So, the suspect pool is filled with friends, family, and strangers. But one mystery is not enough…kidnapping, too! Zoe finds there are more mysteries than gifts under the tree, and a few more grinches have arrived in Ashton Falls.

Kathi Daley has another hit for the holidays! Easily read in an afternoon she penned more than one clever mystery with several suspects, engaging motives, and an “Oh, no” ending that could derail everyone’s Christmas. I enjoy Zoe’s “I” perspective sharing her inner thoughts and vivid descriptions along with engaging banter. But it's her wonderful characters that make this series a favorite…well-developed over the thirty-plus books with evolving relationships, marriages, raising teens, and welcoming new little ones. There are always a few “fur” friends in the mix, and sprinkled throughout the murder, suspects, and a bit of peril, all the prep for the holiday season from decorating and feasting to gift-giving and festivals. Kathi’s realistic touches make this a fun series for newbies and fans alike!

With Kathi’s book she includes my favorite words…not “It's murder,” although she makes those fun, but it's “Recipes Included!” In this book she includes some holiday treats that aren't just for the holidays. No fighting with these Snowball Cookies, or you won't get a slice of Pilgrim Pie. She also includes my favorite Pumpkin Snickerdoodles along with an easy-to-follow recipe for Triple Chip Cookie Bars. Let's start with dessert!

Be a Big Kathi Daley Fan!
Kathi Daley has ten other series offering something for every cozy taste including “fur” friends and close relationship between family and friends. She has a great social media community of fans and can be followed on Goodreads and BookBub.
