The series, subtitled A Dickens & Christie Mystery, in honor of our heroine’s crime-cracking dog-cat duo. Dickens, a dwarf, white Great Pyrenees, and Christie, a cat with—who would have guessed it—an attitude, is cute and quaint, just the thing for any reader tired of the hum-drum of daily life, ready, as most of us are, to curl up in a chair with a pot of tea and a cast of English villagers.

The action takes place in the fictional Cotswold Cottage village of Astonbury, but pivots around the actions of recently-widowed, retired American banker, Leta Petkas Parker, who’s moved from the American South to the village hoping to propel herself into a fresh stage of life as a widow.

Leta is barely settled into her quaint schoolhouse cottage when Dickens and she, on a walk across a cricket field, stumble across her cleaning lady, face-down, lights-out dead. Leta, who has the Dr. Doolittle gift of literally being able to converse with her animal companions, gets light-hearted sleuthing and stalking assistance from her beloved pets. (Not that any of us really talk to our pets, eh?)

This charming who-done-it weaves an intriguing tale of rare books involving real-life Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie. Barrie, who once summered in the area with his literary enclave, has left behind some precious mementos that keep popping up in the most unusual places. Could the vanishing and reappearing items be related to the cleaning lady’s murder? What would anyone want with moldy old letters?

This debut cozy features a quick and snappy set-up, an enchanting cast of village characters, superb editing, a rare book plot that bibliophiles will doubly enjoy, and a pair of lovable pet junior detectives. Relax into a truly cozy world; download your copy today. Book Two in the series, Pumpkins, Paws and Murder, is coming out as I type, so read fast, and enjoy your trip to Astonbury. I hope to be making another trip there soon, via Book 2, myself.
