“Sometimes life is about letting go.”
Kelly Green reluctantly accepts an invitation to attend a long overdue reunion with the four remaining members of the Summer Six high-school clique: Carrie Davidson, Diana “Quinn” Quinby, and Nora Hargrove. Carrie arranged for the ladies to be at a summerhouse on Shipwreck Island for five weeks, the same summerhouse Kelly’s family used to own. She hoped to use the opportunity to remember one of their friends, Peggy Amundson, who twenty-five years ago disappeared without a trace. For Kelly, it’s very bittersweet since her twin sister Kayla would also not be in attendance. A year ago she was involved in a tragic car accident, and the prognosis was she would never awaken from the coma; two months ago Kayla’s husband made the decision to take her off life support. Kelly is hoping these few weeks will provide a good time, a renewing of friendships, and finding a way to move on.

Summerhouse Reunion earns 5/5 Police Files...Engaging Entertainment!
Being back on the island is a delightful jar to the memory seeing the changes to fauna, flora, and friends. Carrie is making up for lost time after her divorce, drinking and carousing too much, Carrie’s “bad boy” younger brother, Ryder West, has found his niche as the local vet and mayor, and another former bad boy, Sam Stone, is the sheriff. The latter, however, has raised a fascinating mystery to pique Kelly’s interest. Taking over as sheriff, when old man Renshaw retired, Sam began by catching up on details of various cold cases. He found the files for Peggy’s disappearance; he also found an odd pattern creating a time line and victim profile, but also some inconsistencies related to one of the victims. Reminding Sam that she had been an FBI analyst and later employed by a tech firm, Kelly is afforded access to information his small department might not know about and is eager to join in the investigation...what really happened to Peggy? Is her disappearance part of a larger crime spree? How will this effect her and her friends?

Fascinating! This first book in Kathi Daley’s Island Reunion series is totally engaging sending readers on a three-book journey. Kathi’s well-written drama from Kelly Green’s perspective grabs readers right off with descriptive language, clever banter, and a fascinating introduction to the Summer Six, their past and present connections to others, and the tragedies that have befallen them over the past twenty-five years. Kelly reminisces about the summers she spent with her family, her twin sister, and although finding it bittersweet to try to move on, she does find solace and a few clues in the memories. While trying to find answers to Peggy’s disappearance, the mystery focuses on connections to several cold cases (I love cold cases!) and their connections to possibly another repeat crime. It was compelling and hard to put down, but as with Kathi’s signature style, the reuniting of friends, their personal lives, weekly sailing events, and gathering at barbecues and local hangouts make it all realistic and well worth the time to get involved.

Alert! No need to wait! The journey, the mystery, the revelations continue with the second book in the Island Reunion Trilogy, Topsail Sundays, releasing at the end of May—Preorder HERE, and the final installment, Campfire Secrets, releases In June—Preorder HERE.
