"Campfire Secrets" An Island Reunion Trilogy By Kathi Daley: Review/Giveaway

Details at the end of this post on how to enter to win an ebook copy of this book, and a link to purchase it.

Campfire Secrets is the third and final book in Kathi Daley’s Island Reunion Trilogy. The story is a continuation of Summerhouse Reunion and Topsail Sundays which introduced characters, set up the mystery, and slowly reveal clues to the cold case mystery of several missing persons. It is not written as a traditional standalone like many of Kathi’s series; it is highly recommended readers start at the beginning.

Island Reunion
Kelly Green reluctantly accepted an invitation from Carrie Davidson, long-time friend, for an overdue reunion with the four remaining members of the self-proclaimed Summer Six. She wasn’t sure what emotions would be dredged up, but she decided to take a chance. The summer is also the twenty-fifth anniversary of the disappearance of their friend Peggy Amundson, but staying in the summerhouse, the same one Kelly’s family used to own, the one where she and twin sister Kayla dreamed, delighted, and even argued like all sisters do, causes many memories to reach the surface. Kayla, who, after a year-long coma, the result of a tragic car accident, was recently removed from life-support, and Kelly is hoping these few weeks will provide good times, friendship renewals, and a way to move on. Along with enjoying surf and sailing, supporting each other’s ups and downs, and a budding romance, Kelly is swept up into a mystery of several missing young women. Could they have memories that hold a key to a serial killer?

Campfire Secrets earns 5/5 Island Bonfires...Engaging Conclusion!

The pattern, a pattern of dates young girls went missing and a victim profile which included their friend Peggy, was uncovered by friend Sheriff Sam Stone as he perused boxes of cold case files. This discovery has led Kelly to closely scrutinize her memories of that summer twenty-five years ago through childhood journals she found hidden in an old desk. Sheriff Sam and she also uncover similar links to the other cold cases and along with those clues and evidence from the dead body that washed up on shore, they theorize that in this year another girl will go missing. It’s so tragic to be right...Grace, the daughter of an island friend, has gone missing! Theories are tested, suspects are scrutinized, and personal peril threatens those who get too close, but time is running out.

Brilliant! Kathi Daley has concluded her Island Reunion Trilogy in dramatically grand fashion...several mysteries solved and justice served! I want to spill the beans on Campfire Secrets to share my insights, but all I can say is you’ve got to read it for yourself! Newbies beware! Some basic ideas are recounted, but not enough to keep you in the loop and make the reading experience complete. Can you imagine only reading book three in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy? Just think of all you’d miss. Kathi’s writing style using a first-person narrative along with descriptive language and dialogue is part of the reason she has so many fans, like me, but it’s her creativity, slowly revealing suspects, revising scenarios, and compiling motives that keep readers as eager fans. Some of the information gathered during the investigation takes place off the page, then it’s relayed through conversations, some secondhand. However, she always includes those clever avenues, shocking twist, and some nail-biting danger for the lead character and friends. I like Kelly and Ryder and all the gang, and with the cases closed, the Epilogue gives a little more insight into their future. But, is there another trilogy in the future?

Summer Delights
“Summer days drifting away, but oh, oh, the summer...” delights! Ok, the words are changed a bit, but refreshing twists to plain lemonade are delightful and a great way to use the basket full of summer fruits. These ideas are provided by Bobby who is also an in-house photographer and production designer at Evermine.
